News: Deliver a baby in an emergency

Deliver a baby in an emergency

For those of you who have never viewed an actual child birth, be forewarned. It is a miracle. It is not pretty.

This public domain tutorial has plenty of shock, but its intention is to instruct, not offend. Officer Bob North is played by real life Dr. Heinrich Beernink, MD of Berkeley California. Teaching normal citizens how to deliver a baby is the true motive of this film.

Truth is, at first I doubted the authenticity. Then, I Googled the cast and crew. This is not a fire drill, or a dramatized event. It is the real thing.

I would love to hear your observations on this tutorial.

NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND: live action: this is what they should teach in public schools!!!

watch out for sudden birth

Kind of a corny movie.... but the point gets across.

This is one of those things that everyone should know how to do, but everyone hopes they will never have to do it.

Good job officers.

We should track down the boy who was born in this video. Does anyone know who or where he is?

choke....cough..gag.

i mean, yeah....it's a miracle.

When that stuff shoots out.... blah I'm glad I'm not a doctor

I agree! This should be shown to Jr. & Sr. High kids!

I'm a mother of seven and I've never experienced actually seeing this. It was amazing.

evry wonder person i #$%@ u

OMFG OUCH OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is SO damn cheesy. All the over-acting, etc. Yeech.

I birthed at home, with many friends celebrating, and I have a wonderful video of the whole painless experience.

yeah right painless what were you on?

holy moly

Sudden Birth was made in 1966. We were all regular Berkeley Officers, except the real Dr. who played Officer Bob. We were volunteered to do the movie. That slippery baby is now 43 yrs old. It was a great experience.

Officer Bob (Heinrich) is my dad! I remember when he did this movie - he had such fun. (We were so embarrassed about his acting!) My brother just came across this on the Internet last week! We didn't know it was available!

I saw this video in 1978 in basic training. It's ancient; they're in a 1954 Ford. The Dr & Woman are married to each other. When her water breaks in his face, WOW, looks like the ConeHead child being born..lol

No, they aren't married -- that's my dad Heinrich, but not my mom. The woman in the film was a real patient of my dad's who agreed to have her baby delivered on film.
